What is Reiki?

By now I am sure you have noticed that I have Reiki listed as a services menu item.  But you may be wondering, “what the heck is Reiki, anyways”?

Well, first, let me tell you about how I came to be a Reiki Practitioner. About a year and a half ago I decided to explore Reiki as an added service to my massage practice.  Having experienced Reiki several times and feeling the profound effects from it, I decided to receive training as a Level 1 Practitioner.  After practicing off and on for about a year on myself and others, neighbors and family mostly, I decided it was time to receive my Level 2 Practitioner training. This occurred last November. After receiving this training, I felt a strong desire to bring this into my practice.  The deep sense of peace and relaxation is something I want all to experience.  I now offer 45-minute Reiki sessions or in a 90-minute combo session with massage, 60 minutes of massage followed by 30 minutes of Reiki.

What Reiki is:

To quote my Reiki teacher and very good friend Kate Mason:

“Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing.

It’s based on the idea that there is an unseen “life force energy” that flows through us and is responsible for our wellbeing. If this life force energy is low, then we are more likely to experience illness or disease.

Reiki practitioners use their hands to channel this life force energy to their clients, which can help to promote healing and wellbeing.”

Reiki has many benefits, including:

·       Reducing stress and anxiety

·       Improving sleep quality

·       Boosting your immune system

·       Improving your overall sense of well-being

·       Reducing pain

For Reiki practitioners, there’s also the benefit of having the opportunity to help others improve their health and wellbeing.

What Reiki is NOT:

Reiki is not a religion, it is not Voodoo, nor is it witchcraft.

Simply put, Reiki is energy work based on the fact that everything, including humans, are made from the same universal energy and can help bring us into balance. All you

need is an open mind and an open heart, Reiki takes care of the rest!

So, there you have it!  I hope this answers all your questions about Reiki.  Feel free to reach out with any other comments or questions you have.  If you would like to book a session you can book online or let me know and I will book it for you!

Stay Well!

Linda
